Colorado, USA

Colorado Craft Beer Road Trip

19 stops5 stages

Colorado is the densest craft beer state in America — over 400 breweries for six million people, and the home of the Great American Beer Festival. This trail links the four beer capitals of the Front Range plus a Rocky Mountain detour in one drivable loop: Denver, Fort Collins (New Belgium, Odell), Boulder & Longmont (Avery, Left Hand, Oskar Blues), Frisco (Outer Range) and Colorado Springs. Four to six days, roughly 550 km of driving, 19 breweries worth the detour.

Bavaria

Bavarian Beer Road Trip

22 stops5 stages

Bavaria has more breweries than any other region on earth — almost 590 of them, about 40 % of Germany's total, and the home of Oktoberfest and the 1516 purity law. This trail links the five beer capitals of the Free State in one drivable loop: Munich (beer gardens and the big six), Bamberg (smoked beer, UNESCO old town), Nuremberg & Fürth (red beer and cellar pubs), Franconia (village breweries around Forchheim and Kulmbach) and Regensburg & Kelheim (the oldest monastery brewery in the world). Four to six days, roughly 700 km of driving (about 850 km if you loop back to Munich), 22 breweries worth the detour.

Southern California, USA

Southern California Beer Road Trip

19 stops5 stages

Southern California invented the modern American IPA. San Diego County alone has more than 150 breweries and gave the world the West Coast IPA; two hours north, Los Angeles and Orange County pushed hazy, barrel-aged and lager brewing to the front. This route links the five clusters that matter into one drive: San Diego (the classics), North County (Carlsbad, Vista), Orange County (Anaheim to the beaches), Los Angeles & the South Bay (Monkish, Torrance, Downtown) and the Inland Empire & Palm Desert finish. Five to seven days, roughly 400 miles, 19 breweries worth the detour.

Oregon & Washington, USA

Pacific Northwest Beer Road Trip

21 stops5 stages

No region in America brews like the Pacific Northwest: Cascade hops, glacier water and a brewery on every other corner. We chained the best taprooms of Oregon and Washington into a single drivable route: Seattle & Puget Sound, Portland, the Columbia River Gorge, Bend & Central Oregon and the Willamette Valley. Twenty-one stops, roughly 800 miles of volcanoes, waterfalls and high desert, and the densest beer culture in the country.

Japan

Japan Craft Line

19 stops6 stages

Japan's craft beer scene has exploded from a handful of pioneers into hundreds of serious breweries, and almost all of it sits on a single Shinkansen line. We chained 19 of the best taprooms into one train trip: Tokyo, the hot-spring hills of the Izu Peninsula (Baird Beer's home turf), the mountain ski town of Yamanouchi / Shiga Kogen, a quick Nagoya stop, historic Kyoto and finally Osaka. No rental car, no highway driving — just JR Pass, limited express trains and short taxi hops from the station to the taproom.

Brussels, Flanders & Payottenland, Belgium

Belgium Beer Trail

20 stops5 stages

Belgium is the only country where a beer style can be named after a village and a brewery can be older than most nations. This trail chains 20 essential stops into one compact trip: Brussels and its lambic temples, the farmhouse blenderies of the Payottenland, student-city Ghent, canal-lined Bruges and finally Antwerp. Every stage is a short train ride — no car needed, and no reason to drive.

This road trip runs on a sober driver

A brewery route is not a driving tour. Plan how you'll get between stops before you taste anything.

  • Public transport, regional trains or taxis between stages.
  • Walk between spots when they're close, or stay overnight nearby.
  • A designated driver who doesn't drink — zero glasses, no exceptions.
